Comic-style images with Photoshop

I am always looking for ways to transform photos into this specific style - flat fields of color, surrounded by black lines. Here is a new one that uses Photoshop’s smart blur filter.

• Open an image and duplicate the layer
• Apply a smart blur filter to the lower layer - radius and threshold 100%, quality high, mode normal.
• Apply a smart blur filter to the upper layer, same settings except for the mode, which should be “lines only”.
• Invert the image to get black lines on a white canvas.
• Set the layer mode of the upper level to multiply
